Govt. Degree College Kandaghat, Distt. Solan was established in the year 2016 with an objective to enhance the sphere of higher education in rural areas and provide education to the youth coming from these areas at their doorstep. At present, the college has its own huge building surrounded by picturesque hilly landscape that creates serene and delightful ambience. The institution has spacious and well-furnished rooms, a multipurpose hall, a Library and other facilities. Government Degree College Kandaghat, Solan established in the year 2016, offers undergraduate courses in the field of Humanities, Commerce. B.Sc. (Medical and Non-Medical) is being started from this academic session i.e. 2022-23 onwards. The town of Kandaghat, where this college is situated, is of historical importance as the Late Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, the ruler of Patiala state, came from Shimla and built his first Palace at Kandaghat. During pre-independence days, Kandaghat used to be known as 'Kohistan'.
